As an intern you will participate in our nationwide Internship & Co-Op Program, LEAP, where you will have the opportunity to Learn, Engage, Apply, and Progress within the company. BAE Systems is one of the world's largest defense contractors and Fortune 500 Company, this intern will be working full time (40 hours / week) onsite at our Radford Army Ammunition Plant in Radford, VA, for Summer 2024. Relocation will be not offered, and housing is not provided.
As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will:

• Work in a multi-discipline engineering team designing and constructing chemical manufacturing facilities
• Perform mechanical engineering analyses for steam, hydraulic, piping, HVAC, and process cooling and heating systems
• Support Design, fabrication, inspection, and testing of chemical manufacturing / utility equipment (tanks, vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, etc.)
• Write specifications, supervise and prepare mechanical drawings
• Ensure construction tasks are in accordance with plans and specifications
• Provide field support for checkout, startup, and commissioning activities
• Supports the team will all necessary technical, lab testing or clerical work
• Supports the team with all necessary project work

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Must be a US Person
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience with CAD and 3D modeling Software
• Experience with fabrication techniques including machining, welding, and sheet metal forming
• Basic Mechanical Engineering Coursework

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $40600 - $54800
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan. Temporary employees working 20+ hours per week are eligible for medical benefits, the employee assistance program, and business travel accident insurance.
