Onaroll is used by Restaurants from all the major brands to incentivize and reward their Team Members’ performance. Restaurant Operators set goals such as daily sales, on-time attendance, or drive thru speed and when an employees achieves those goals, they are automatically awarded points that can be redeemed for gift cards at hundreds of retailers. This produces a virtuous feedback loop where employees are rapidly rewarded for their performance and Operators see meaningful business impact via improved retention and more productive restaurants.


Onaroll is looking for an Engineering Manager to lead development of the two interfaces that power these experiences. The first is used for Operators to self-service their Onaroll platform through managing rosters, distributing bonus points for spot awards, configuring goals, and more. The second is where the team members redeem awards, understand daily goals, and receive custom content related to their place of work.

Initial Scope:

  • Lead the team: We are currently engaged in multiple significant projects, requiring this role to collaborate across departments such as product and UX, provide technical contributions through mentorship and coaching, and oversee a team of four engineers.
  • Goals rework: An ongoing project involves reimagining the Goals engine, which serves as the core of Onaroll. This team is revamping the goals configuration process to empower Operators with self-service capabilities, while also exploring innovative methods to enhance the gamification of the employee experience.
  • Scale & Consolidate tech: The two interfaces operate on distinct technology stacks, presenting a significant opportunity for this role to spearhead the consolidation and reutilization of components. This will result in a unified, contemporary platform, empowering the team to iterate and deliver more rapidly.

You:

  • You have experience leading a front-end leaning engineering team at a fast paced organization through the ebbs and flows of the business.
  • Experience building consumer facing experiences or experience with product led growth are nice to have. This expertise would typically be accumulated after 2+ years in a manager or Team Lead role.
  • You possess extensive proficiency in front-end technologies and architecture, utilizing this expertise to strike a balance between technical excellence and business requirements. Typically, this level of expertise is attained through serving as an Individual Contributor (IC) at a Senior Engineer level or higher for several years.
  • You have reached a stage in your career where you aspire to be a catalyst for productivity, leveraging your skills to maintain team focus, eliminate barriers, and nurture individuals to excel in their positions.
  • You are a champion of an inclusive culture in a remote-first environment.
