The Purpose:

This senior leader is responsible for transforming and leading the community and merchandising operations functions that drive the growth of our community and deals within the Business organization. As the VP, Head of Growth Operations, this person will be responsible for defining and executing on a comprehensive operational strategy that will accelerate the growth and engagement of our community and of the highly relevant deal supply on the Slickdeals site. This position will play a crucial role in furthering Slickdeals reputation as a trusted community-driven marketplace to build and scale our business. This role serves as part of the Slickdeals Business Leadership team, reports to the Chief Business Officer and will regularly interface with CEO and C-Suite.

What You'll Do:

Community Growth and Operations:

  • Partner closely with Community Relations, Sales, Marketing, Business Operations, and Product to build a community growth strategy that accelerates the number of weekly active community members (cWAU) while balancing the needs of our shoppers and merchants.
  • Build and execute on a roadmap of continuous operational improvements and initiatives that will accelerate the efficiency of community content generation and levels of engagement with our community members.
  • Effectively build and maintain appropriate community communication channels, events and forums to engage and interact with various communities.
  • Present regularly to the BOD, CEO and CBO on the community growth strategy and roadmap, including weekly reports on cWAU performance.

Deals Growth and Merchandising Operations: 

  • Develop a deals operational growth strategy and corresponding roadmap of operational improvements and initiatives to optimize our deal operations processes to increase the output of posting and editorializing the most relevant deals to drive higher deal conversion.
  • Conduct supply-demand gap analyses in close partnership with Marketing and Business Operations by evaluating what types of deals shoppers are looking for and comparing it to the supply inventory to identify gaps.
  • Present regularly to the BOD, CEO and CBO on the deals operational growth strategy and roadmap, including weekly reports on deal volume and quality performance.

Advocacy and Feedback Management: 

  • Establish and maintain relationships with strategic power users, influencers, and community members in partnership with the Head of Community Relations. 
  • Foster a sense of community by engaging various Slickdeals users in meaningful interactions, organizing AMA (Ask Me Anything) sessions, and hosting community councils, roundtables and Q&A sessions. Run the planning and execution that brings these events to life and measure their impact.
  • Listen to all forms of community feedback, including detractors. Engage with voices that have expressed criticism or concerns about the platform. Address concerns, provide support, and work to create advocacy through clarity, empathy, and effective communication.

Data-Driven Actions:

  • Partner with the Business Operations to create dashboards and reports that will enable you to closely monitor and analyze community health, operational efficiency and overall platform growth.  
  • Analyze the dashboards and reports, synthesizing for key insights and translating those insights into actionable strategy.

Team Leadership

  • Inspire and lead a team of 2 direct reports, 23 total FTEs and 78 contractors to drive higher community and deals growth with maximum operational efficiency
  • Oversee a team of 12 community moderators to address community-related inquiries, feedback, and complaints and drive higher community engagement.
  • Oversee a team of 16 Merchandising Operations full-time employees and 66 contractors including deal/coupon hunters, editors, and quality assurance personnel to maintain and grow our supply of high quality merchants and deals.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, operations, or a related field. MBA preferred.
  • Over 10 years of previous experience in B2C tech strategic operations, growth operations, general management, or a similar role, with 4+ years in a leadership and management role. Prior experience in management consulting preferred.
  • A motivated, fast decision-maker, who pushes teams to excellence and thrives in ambiguous environments
  • Exceptional analytical skills, with the ability to transform complex data into actionable strategies.
  • A desire to do both analytical, strategic planning and the daily execution/optimization
  • Strong understanding of or interest in online communities, ideally with experience in shopping or ecommerce communities. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and nurture relationships with key opinion leaders.
  • Strong leadership abilities, with experience in developing and managing high-performing teams. Prior experience managing hourly and contract employees strongly preferred.

 

LOCATION: San Mateo, CA

Hybrid schedule visiting our San Mateo office three days a week (Tues-Thurs).
