What we’re looking for: 

Nexamp is looking to hire a Category Manager. In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic management of assigned categories worldwide. Working cross-functionally, you will own the supplier process and performance. You'll partner with other key functional representatives from Business Development, Construction, SPM, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics to ensure Nexamp's supply base is effectively serving internal and external customer needs. This role will be hybrid based out of our Chicago or Boston office. You will report to the Supply Chain Director.

What you’ll do:  

  • Own the equipment category strategy with a special focus on solar modules and PV racking.
  • Select suppliers to meet the overall goals and objectives of the business (EPC (CED) for AVL). 
  • Negotiate master supply agreements with suppliers in assigned categories. 
  • Manage supplier relationships strategically to ensure technical, manufacturing, quality, product support, and logistics needs are met and to ensure a continuity of supply. 
  • Manage supplier performance concerning cost, quality (PPM), OTD, velocity, and service with a monthly supplier scorecard. 
  • Work to introduce new suppliers/rationalize the supply base focused on the total cost of ownership. 
  • Work on technology roadmap with vendors and coordinate that with Nexamp internal groups (Engineering/Business Development/Innovation groups). 
  • Manage supplier relationships (external supplier visits, internal supplier meetings, supplier conferences, benchmarking, attending industry trade shows/conferences). 
  • Manage RFP process within assigned category.

What you’ll bring:

  • Thorough knowledge of purchasing techniques including strategic supplier concepts.
  • Understanding of inventory management requirements.
  • ERP knowledge and experience e.g. SAP, Oracle, JDE, Baan, Visual, etc.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Previous experience working in the development cycle of new products is a plus.
  • Continuous improvement, Six Sigma concepts & methodologies, and work experience as a leader with excellent negotiation skills are a plus.
  • Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.   
  • Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality. 
  • Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions. 
  • Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry. 
  • Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
