Job summary

A key member of the in-house creative team in Richmond, VA that serves as a strategic partner to the Med-Surg marketing department. Develop best-of-class marketing campaigns, collateral and narratives that are compelling, engaging and on brand. Requires occasional onsite collaboration (about two times per month) in the Richmond office.

Job description

This role creates all content/storytelling elements in Med-Surg marketing collateral and customer-facing content. The copywriter will write and edit copy for a variety of projects (including print, digital collateral, advertising, video scripts and social media), working closely with key stakeholders to brainstorm ideas, create concepts, and develop messaging. Will juggle projects that consist of long-form copy, transactional-based copy and corporate narrative or brand storytelling copy.

Minimum requirements

  • Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of

    relevant experience

  • Should be fluent in English
  • Develop and deliver excellently crafted messages that are compelling, customer-first, channel optimized and on-brand
  • Create error-free and grammatically accurate copy for multiple audiences and mediums
  • Interview and take direction from Creative Director, brief owners and SMEs on the development of compelling messaging in support of key campaigns and initiatives
  • Comfortably vary voice, style, and other characteristics demanded by specific initiative, medium, audience, etc.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a high-volume workload often requiring short turnaround times
  • Attend and actively participate in campaign and creative kick-offs for assigned initiatives
  • Apply and be a steward of brand voice, corporate and APA style guides
  • Content Creation
    • Develops and creates new media content for distribution through online communities and digital or print publications.
    • Researches, writes, fact-checks and edits news articles, columns, editorials, blogs, video scripts, podcast scripts and/or social media posts.
    • Identifies topics that appeal to target audiences and areas of interest.
    • Maintains consistent style and appropriate tone for audience needs and preferences.
    • May also design visual and auditory media components as needed

Critical skills

  • Experience in copywriting, especially in an agency environment
  • Must have marketing writing experience for both print and digital channels
  • Experience working in AP style
  • Experience writing on a variety of subjects within a consistent corporate brand voice
  • Ability to perform in a fast paced/deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in Microsoft Office Software Suite

  • Demonstrates competence in own area and has mastered most of the basic job functions. May still be acquiring higher skill level, and gaining exposure to more complex tasks within job function
  • Contributes to the fulfillment of projects and organizational objectives.

Physical requirements

  • Must be able to work remotely and effectively communicate with other remote stakeholders and teams
  • Must be available for occasional travel to Richmond office hub for in-person collaboration
  • Must be available for in-person work commitments during major initiatives

In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$55,900 - $93,100
