Position Summary:

As a valued member of Stryker's AI innovation unit, you will work alongside trailblazers, industry visionaries, innovators, and inventors who are committed to bringing computer vision, AI/ML and digital innovation to the operating room and other healthcare settings. You'll contribute to fast-paced cycles of innovation and develop core technologies that power a wide array of Stryker's solutions, including: surgical robotics and navigation, image-guided surgery, treatment selection, outcome assessment, and clinical decision intelligence. You will apply your core skills across a range of deployment platforms spanning from mobile applications, cloud services, and SDKs to embedded systems, edge devices, and mixed reality (XR) platforms. You will have an opportunity to work across a wide variety of therapeutic areas ranging from orthopedics and neurosurgery to emergency care and operating room safety and efficiency - plus many more.

We are seeking an experienced Director to lead our AI Systems team responsible for several key engineering initiatives such as cloud architecture, cloud application development, and MLOps. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing global, cross-functional teams of data scientists, software engineers, and cloud engineers to develop and maintain a collection of technology platforms serving use cases ranging from AI model deployment, data management, and cloud applications. This role is critical in driving technological advancements, fostering innovation, and maintaining Stryker's competitive edge. As a key member of our AI engineering leadership team, you will strategize, develop, and execute technology solutions that align with our business goals and meet our customers' evolving needs.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive technology strategy for all AI platform solutions, encompassing AI Cloud Architecture, AI Cloud, and AI Platforms.
  • Lead and inspire teams of talented professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence.
  • Oversee the design and deployment of scalable, secure, and efficient AI cloud solutions. Ensure best practices in cloud-native development and DevOps are followed.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to define the MLOps roadmap and enable utilization across all of Stryker.
  • Collaborate with the business development team to identify new market opportunities, enhance service offerings, and establish strategic partnerships.
  • Provide technical leadership, offering expert advice and solutions for complex cloud and AI challenges.
  • Stay at the forefront of technology trends and innovations in AI and cloud computing, integrating cutting-edge solutions into our offerings.
  • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of all technology solutions. Drive continuous improvement in processes and technologies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (strongly desired):

  • Experience with AI and machine learning technologies, including designing and deploying scalable AI solutions.
  • Experience in data science, including analytical tools, managing large datasets and basic data curation.
  • Experience implementing, managing, and maintaining solutions on Microsoft Azure.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: What you will need (must have):

  • BS/BA or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role or equivalent experience.
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing platforms (e.g., Azure/AWS) and experience in managing complex cloud architectures.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering large-scale software projects on time and within budget.
  • Proficiency in application modernization, cloud-native development, DevOps practices, and security best practices in cloud environments.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to executive management and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and driving initiatives that enhance technology capabilities and business outcomes.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute strategic plans to foster growth and innovation in cloud and AI technologies.

Travel Percentage: 10%
