EGM - Flash Programming Application Development
Description
Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to be onsite at Warren or Milford, Michigan minimum three times per week.
The Role
We are seeking an Engineering Group Manager to lead the Flash Programming Application Development team within Manufacturing Engineering' Global Manufacturing Electrical & Software Defined Vehicle organization. This role will establish strategic direction and execution for the flash programming software development space for General Motors. This leader will foster a people-first culture while driving towards robust software applications directly impacting our ability to launch quality vehicles on time for our customers.
What You'll Do
- Lead a group of high performing individuals that develops vehicle software applications that enable successful flash programming events in the manufacturing environment and performing flash programming development and integration activities at pre-production builds and electrical system benches.
- Own Engineering Global Flash code applications (download, device controls, configurations, learns, setups, cybersecurity algorithms) for electronic module programming events.
- Lead the Global Flash Programming Expert Team, with team members from all GM regions, to drive common and efficient flash programming process globally.
- Develop and communicate strong objectives and corresponding project plans.
- Work closely with and support various teams inside and outside of GM globally: manufacturing engineering, cybersecurity, product engineering, aftersales, joint ventures, special projects, etc., on new technology solutions for GM Manufacturing Engineering.
- Develop a strong team by acquiring strong talent when necessary via recruiting and hiring processes.
- Mentor, coach and develop team members and support their careers.
- Manage a departmental budget for travel and operations, strategically investing in innovation and efficiency.

Additional Description
Your Skills &. Abilities (Required Qualifications)
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Software Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related degree).
- 7+ years of engineering experience related to vehicle electrical architecture standards, vehicle systems diagnostic data, serial data communications/networks (e.g., CAN, CANFD, Ethernet), embedded control systems and calibrations.
- Experience in leading coded software development teams, projects, processes and methods.
- Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and root cause analysis skills, especially where problems are unusual and difficult.
- Excellent multi-functional communication, leadership skills and collaboration.
- Proven results in successful project execution.
- Excellent verbal and written communications and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to "Deal with Ambiguity" while driving timely decision making and while ensuring progress to objectives per project plans.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and measure work through metrics, data, and results with autonomy and accountability for results.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)
- Master of Science in Engineering and/or Master of Business Administration
- Leadership experience of teams of engineers responsible for developing or testing control systems or related hardware
- Prior experience in the electrical and software domains
- Experience managing a global team that is geographically dispersed
