We are looking for an Engineering Manager for our Customer Data Platform team.

Compensation: $270,000-$300,000 including superannuation, employee equity plan grant & world class benefits.

As a hands on engineering manager in our Customer Data Platform team, you will be leading an autonomous team, owning a large part of our data ingestion, processing and management platform, with a specific focus on extreme reliability, low latency, and the ability to build and scale high-throughput systems that handle petabytes of data through a combination of real-time data streaming and massive batch processing.

A deep understanding of how to build and maintain systems at a global scale is key to this role, and the desire to get deep into the architecture now and into the future would be ideal. Having experience working on large scale distributed systems that cross geographically dispersed user bases would also be a major asset, as we're active in 14 markets globally, and are hosted over 4 AWS regions.

About the Role:

  • Lead the design, implementation and maintenance of massive data ingestion systems
  • Manage and develop a team of autonomous and high performing engineers
  • Cut production level code that can be built upon by your team and the wider Rokt organisation
  • Identifying and proposing improvements to the current system architecture that emphasise reliability and scalability
  • Work across the Rokt engineering org to optimise how we deal with data, from ingestion and cleanliness, through to how it's utilised by our Machine Learning teams.

Requirements

About You:

  • 10+ years of experience in commercial software development experience designing, building and operating distributed systems and 4+ years of experience in managing engineering teams
  • Strong experience with a back end language like Go, Python or Scala would be ideal, but any back end language would be great
  • Experience building and scaling large scale data ingestion systems. We run at petabyte scale using Kafka, so we'd love to see deep knowledge of data
  • Solid exposure to complex cloud infrastructure and open-source systems would be a great fit, as we have a massive AWS-based infrastructure that we leverage across the organisation
  • Leadership. Organise and motivate engineering contributors, work with the product team to understand business logic and be able to translate into appropriate technical solutions
