As a Lead Full Stack Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, innovating and maintaining our key Gen-AI platforms and capabilities.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and high-performance software solutions that meet business requirements and align with industry leading standards.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to gather requirements, define technical specifications, provide solutions to system-wide architectural problems while ensuring successful delivery through continuous improvement.
  • Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code, while adhering to coding standards and guidelines, ensuring consistency and efficiency in software development processes
  • Debug and solve sophisticated issues, ensuring the stability and reliability of our applications.
  • Take ownership of backlog items and actively contribute to the git repositories, driving the progress of projects and delivering high-quality code.
  • Demonstrate technical leadership to the team and multiplying their talent through positive mentorship, sharing knowledge and standard processes to foster their professional growth.
  • Implement integrated solutions using working relationships across the enterprise.
  • Design, prioritize, and implement high impact solutions across teams both within and outside their division.
  • Establish, aggregate, and share enterprise standards and practices.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers within respective division.
  • Ensure production stability, monitoring, and root cause analysis is performed for their products.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 6-8 years of professional experience required.
  • 5-8+ years of experience leading teams using modern engineering tools, languages, and practices.
  • Proven track record of successfully designing and delivering significant and impactful technology solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of front-end components and frameworks like React, NodeJS, Typescript, Next.js
  • Demonstrable experience with Python in both an application and data science context
  • Experience working with standard data science libraries and frameworks.
  • Experience or interest in developing AI-driven solutions, working with machine learning models, and familiarity with AI platforms, tools, and frameworks.
  • Database experience - including SQL, No-SQL, and Vector databases.
  • Experience with vector databases for tasks such as document retrieval and semantic search
  • Solid understanding of Linux (CentOS), terraform and AWS services such as Aurora, S3, SQS, MSK, Kinesis, and DynamoDB
  • Proficiency in developing cloud-based, dockerized applications and microservices
  • Experience developing and leading solution delivery using agile methods.
  • Expert for the organization in one or more technologies: [insert as applicable when posting].
  • Successfully deals with ambiguity.
  • Recognized as the go-to expert within the division or department.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences in varying forms and levels of detail.
  • Solid understanding of design patterns and architecture.
  • Experience with Gen-AI is a plus.

Pay Range - Start:
$121,030.00
Pay Range - End:
$224,770.00
Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
