Responsible for oversight of personnel, equipment, and operations in the lighting and grip department and the Stage Management team. The primary goal is to provide clients with high-quality, full-service lighting and grip equipment, delivered in a timely and proficient manner by a well-organized team and ensure Stage Managers are in form.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lighting & Grip
  • Work with Asst Supervisor of L&G and 3rd party Rental Agent(s) to ensure productions are provided with detailed quotes in a timely manner for all lighting, grip, and expendable orders.
  • Coordinate with Warehouse team to ensure orders are stocked checked, pulled, staged and delivered by department or directly to stage from 3rd party vendors according to production’s timeline.
  • Ensure The Lot inventory is organized and properly maintained in working order by the warehouse personnel and third party deliveries keep to the standard as well in their direct delivery.
  • Maintain detailed archival records of all production documents including but not limited to, quotes, orders, check-out/in contracts, vendor contracts, and purchase orders.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with vendors and ensure their service rates are as required.
  • Bill for all production rental and sales orders and provide weekly totals to accounting.
  • Authorize vendor invoices for payment once approved for use by management.
  • Supervise load-ins, load-outs, and show calls as scheduled at stage and dock.
  • Advise on equipment system maintenance, upgrades, and capital improvements.
  • Analyze and execute best practices to streamline department processes.
  • Review analysis on capex, budget, revenue, cost of sale, accrual totals and R&M as needed.
  • Enforce safe work practices ensuring a safe working environment for all. And all schedules for training are kept up to date for all Stage Managers, L&G, and CIM labor employees.
  • Trouble shoot and repair lighting fixtures, dimmers, and other electrical equipment. 
  • Studio Services
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations and management of a Motion Picture and Television Studio Facility, a 10 acre entertainment campus consisting of -300,000+ sq. ft of Class A and Class B office buildings, seven sound stages, mixing stages, a mill, two parking structures, and cafe.
  • Provide exceptional customer service environment for high demand clientele, including major studios, producers, directors, actors, and post-production departments.
  • Track and bill for all productions and events in a timely manner through work order platform.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of blueprints, building systems, schematics, and space planning.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Schedule varies and may include nights and/or weekends.
  • Step-in and assist crews with deliveries.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the Lighting and Grip staff and Stage Management team
  • Train and mentor staff and ensure all safety training is kept to schedule 

EDUCATION/EXPEREINCE REQUIREMENTS: (Including certifications, licenses, etc.)

  • Associate Degree at a minimum preferred 
  • Thorough knowledge of lighting and grip equipment with a strong understanding of emerging technologies and stage management needs
  • 5+ years of experience in a studio or at a lighting and grip rental warehouse
  • 3+ years of experience in managing day to day studio operations

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough understanding of lighting and grip equipment
  • Proficiency with rental software tracking and billing (i.e. Rental Works)
  • Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Ability to work long and irregular hours.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, time management skills, and capable of prioritizing tasks.
  • Attention to detail.
  • On-set experience preferred.
  • MS Office including Excel, Word, PowerPoint
