Outsourced Brakes SW DRE (Software Design Release Engineer)
Description
Software DRE Task Include:
Address all controller and system safety concerns promptly
Lead and support product issue investigations (Problem Resolution Tracking System - PRTS), continuous process improvements, standard methodologies, lessons learned, and quality improvement initiatives.
Gather all necessary documents for sourcing and provide technical expertise during purchasing process
Facilitate requirements and design reviews with suppliers, algorithm and software groups (DFMEA, DRBFM, Peer Reviews)
Negotiate changes from supplier, Electrical Architecture, Controls, Software and Cyber Security Engineers and update controller requirement documents
Organizes and leads key Controller Product Development Team (PDT) meetings.
Own/Release the software for development & production
Manage part number proliferation for the embedded controller (end model part number, software, and calibration parts)
Create and manage controller validation plans--Worst Case Analysis, Bench (Design Demo), Design and Process Validation
Coordinate activities and manage a full test plan including required supplier testing as well as all other testing required to validate component including, but not limited to: applicable regulatory testing, subsystem integration testing, system safety testing, cybersecurity, etc.
Keep supplier(s) on track to meet key milestones (design freeze, gate reviews for prototype levels, validation start and complete dates)
Work with the supplier to develop Validation Cross Reference Index (VCRIs) to ensure all requirements are mapped to appropriate validation procedures
Author validation requirements for new sourcing activities and provide as corporate Appendix G2
Issue part salable status based on successful completion of all required testing
Monitor design changes in production (via Change Notices)
Controller warranty analysis, issue resolution, parts restriction and report updates as required to team leadership/CPIT
Lead annual validation requirements
Supplier and Vehicle Assembly plant visits as required
Additional Description
Minimum Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Computer Science
Minimum 2+ years of automotive experience
Demonstrated proficiency comprehending software/hardware requirements
Must be capable of providing component specific direction to new engineers and supplier resident engineers
High level knowledge of software verification/validation processes
Understanding of engineering theory and principles of operation of mechanical/electrical mechanisms
High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
High level of oral and written communication skills
High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals
This position requires legally operating a motor vehicle on a daily basis
DFSS Green Belt Certified
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Master's degree in one of the following areas: Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or Computer Science
Minimum 5+ years of DRE experience
Experience in the GM product release and specification process
Experience with customer interface technologies
In-depth knowledge of vehicle serial data communications (i.e. CAN, GMLAN, & LIN)
Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and electronic chassis systems
Knowledge of OBD-II Diagnostics and Functional Safety
Knowledge of SAFe Agile Release process including PI/ART/SCRUMS
