Sol Systems is seeking a Policy Associate to join our team in Washington, DC. The Policy Associate is a key member of the Regulatory Affairs, Energy Infrastructure and Markets team reporting directly to the Director. The Policy Associate is responsible for policy analysis, advocacy, prioritization and integration across Sol’s business units. The ideal candidate is a driven self-starter with the ability to grasp legislative and administrative processes quickly and work well within a team. This is an excellent opportunity to use core analytic, advocacy, business and administrative skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Help manage program's legislative database including tracking of all state and congressional meetings, letter requests and program's progress toward goals. 
  • Attend internal and external meeting and be able to document, identify and track key takeaways, next steps, including research needs. 
  • Coordinate with the research team to ensure goals are met and priorities are correct. 
  • Apply excellent organizational, communication, and planning skills by responding to requests for information, helping to coordinate activities and projects for the team and preparing correspondence as needed. 
  • Manage other administrative tasks associated with team, including logistics, office needs, and telecommunications. 

A successful candidate will possess the following skills and attributes: 

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of related work experience
  • Experience in energy markets desirable
  • Exposure to state level policy making
  • Creativity, energy, and the ability to multi-task and get work done under pressure
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work as a strong team player, while at the same time able to work independently and as a self-starter
  • An understanding of and commitment to Sol’s mission of making the planet a better place by engaging in and building functioning and long-term renewable energy markets

Location & Hours: This is a full-time role and will be based in our Washington, DC office.

Commitment & Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with experience.
