Principal Associate, Risk Management (Card) - (Hybrid)
Principal Risk Associates at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. These skills allow the Principal Risk Associate to gain insights, and act as a change agent to influence their business partners. As Capital One evolves to meet the ever changing technology landscape, so do our Risk Associates. A successful Principal Risk Associate operates from a foundation of knowledge about the Line of Business with whom they are working, laws / regulations and good Risk Management practices. They are forward thinking, quick to adapt, and technologically adept.
The Principal Risk Associate will have a high level of exposure across the Card business and have the opportunity to work with Executives to create and implement innovative solutions to appropriately manage risks within the business.
Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating the risk assessment process associated with new/changing intent for multiple Card business areas
  • Develop management reporting based on risk assessments
  • Coordinating the various process interactions, including meeting logistics, and facilitating collaborative meetings with 1st and 2nd line process participants
  • Partner with data analysts to iterate and improve upon risk monitoring and reporting
  • Synthesize data and perform analysis to bring valuable business insights to the Card business
  • Design, implement, and/or influence internal governance processes
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem solving and influencing skills
  • Connecting the dots of the changing strategic and operational priorities and risk environment and partnering with the risk advisors and business to understand the impacts
  • Partner with a wide range of internal customers across all levels
  • Demonstrate strong organizational agility to adapt to changing demands.and divergent priorities

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience
  • At least 1 year of financial services or risk management experience
  • At least 3 years of project or process management experience
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience facilitating and conducting Risk Assessments
  • 1+ years of experience developing presentations for senior stakeholders 3+ years of financial services or risk management experience
  • 4+ years of project or process management experience
  • 4+ years of experience supporting, partnering, and interacting with internal business clients
  • Professional certifications within risk management or assurance (Certified Risk Management Professional, Certified Internal Auditor).

This role is hybrid meaning associates typically spend about half their time (2-3 days per week) in-person at one of our offices listed on this job posting . Mondays and Fridays are enterprise- wide virtual work days . Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are in-person days for associates to spend time together working in our beautifully-designed team areas.
