What you'll do

Primary focus of the role is to provide technical design/architecture, and architectural analysis/support for business projects and technology initiatives for the purpose of enabling business and technical capabilities that conform to OCC Enterprise reference architectures/roadmaps.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.

  • Responsible for the design and architecture of the systems to meet functional requirements. Should also meet non-functional requirements that include - quality, security, reliability, scalability (up and out), extensibility, testability, supportability, fault tolerance and disaster recovery.
  • Defines technical solutions for the given initiative that consider the current state environment, architecture, and constraints. Analyzes the viability of the architecture/design to meet the timeline, budget, and quality.
  • Collaborates with business users, design, development, and QA teams to help identify and develop creative solutions for complex technical requirements and processes. Adheres to overall reference architecture.
  • Develops the artifacts - architecture design document, architecture decision document, product selection criteria and proof of concept document, and other required documents as defined by SDLC.
  • Collaborates with other architect(s) in establishing various architecture and development related standards, and work with management to enforce their governance.
  • Research and evaluate vendors/technologies to identify appropriate technology for OCC's strategic direction, including conducting pilot or product selection efforts; prepare written reports of findings and recommend implementation and rollout approaches to the organization.
  • Provides critical thinking and technical expertise from ideation to implementation.
  • Develops and presents solution alternatives along with recommendations to management.
  • Actively works with management to define processes/procedures/job aids when new tools/technologies are introduced.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • [Required] Knowledge of AWS cloud cost data analysis and AWS Serverless using Lambda.
  • [Required] Experience in identifying opportunities to reduce cloud costs and make corresponding recommendations for efficient usage of cloud resources.
  • [Required] Experience in cloud technologies such as Amazon S3, Route 53, ASG, VPC, SNS, and Amazon API Gateway.
  • [Required] Experience with a variety of technologies and architectures - SQL, DynamoDB, RDS, Data Visualization.
  • [Required] Knowledge of systems and development techniques, database systems/structures, technology tools/products.
  • [Required] Experience with program/projects involving complex integration of disparate types of technologies/platforms and data.
  • [Required] Experience with different architecture/design techniques - object oriented, structured, component based and corresponding tools.
  • [Required] Knowledge of the governance of architecture standards, patterns, and best practices.
  • [Required] Highly motivated individual with a strong sense of ownership of their work/projects.
  • [Required] Strong desire and capacity to adapt to new technologies.
  • [Required] An enquiring mind with the ability to abstract general principles from specifics.
  • [Required] Highly collaborative - comfortable sharing ideas and asking questions with all levels of staff.

Technical Skills:

  • [Required] Experience with cloud architectures.
  • [Required] Experience with SQL databases.
  • [Required] Experience with AWS cloud cost data and opportunities to reduce costs.
  • [Required] Experience with Cloud based solution design.


Education and/or Experience:

  • [Required] Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Economics or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • [ Required] 2-5 years of diverse work experience in Information Technology with exposure to Financial Services Industry - Options/Clearing preferred.
  • [Required] 2 Years of assisting architecture


Certificates or Licenses:

  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner
