This is a great opportunity to join Spotify’s growing Strategic Client Partnership Team! We are looking for an outstanding Business Development leader to support Spotify’s most strategic advertising clients. In this role, you’ll help craft the future of Spotify’s advertising business by identifying prospects, leading partner development and negotiating deals with Ad Tech providers, Agencies and brands across all major verticals to help us scale & optimize our global advertising business identifying unique alignments and opportunities for growth between Spotify and the brands who we partner with globally. 


Candidates will have a genuine curiosity to understand and identify creative solutions and strategies which forge deep and valuable connections with our advertising clients. Have a proven track record to navigate complex media agreements, a strong ability to negotiate and execute deals and work cross functionally. A passion for online media, data and ad tech. We want someone who loves our product and understands the ad tech and advertising ecosystem.

What You'll Do

  • Identify valuable and relevant BD Solutions for Spotify’s top advertising partners. 
  • Negotiate non-media deal components with the client (alongside Ad Sales).
  • Serve as the primary liaison between Ads BD and other Business Development teams at Spotify, including Music BD, CBD, Marketing Partnerships, and Freemium Partnerships for the negotiation and execution of the above strategic partnerships within Advertising agreements. 
  • Full ownership of all aspects of the 360 Solution within the larger Ad Sales Advertising deal, to ensure success and cross functional support from teams such as Legal, Technical Accounting, Business Operations and FP&A.
  • Develop Solutions which will facilitate strategic partnerships through collaboration with cross functional teams such as Ad Sales, Freemium, CBD, Music, Marketing and Content to ensure delivery of effective advertising strategies and solutions.
  • Expand and develop the strategy to use Ads BD to unlock incremental revenue for top International strategic advertisers.
  • Advise on legal, financial and negotiating frameworks with end to end ownership of Solution to be used by the broader ad sales team.
  • Analyze competitors and the market and recommend new Solutions to fit into the broader Spotify suite.
  • Provide trustworthy feedback and insights which will shape future offerings.

Who You Are

  • You have 10+ years experience focused in business development in the Advertising or Ad Tech industry
  • You have a deep understanding of the digital ecosystem and trends around agencies, advertisers, best practices, opportunities, and challenges.
  • You have the ability to think laterally with a solutions-oriented mindset. 
  • You nurture and grow senior relationships at top brands and media companies. 
  • You are a great teammate, smart, adapt well with change and have a positive attitude.
  • You are able to work in a fast-paced, exciting environment and across external and internal teams to deliver.

Where You’ll Be

  • This role will be based out of our NYC office 

The United States base range for this position is $176,191 - $251,701, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays, paid sick leave. These ranges may be modified in the future.
