Job Description
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for providing project management support for our Company manufacturing sites in Durham, North Carolina. This position will be part of the new Site Project Management Office team.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manage multiple capital projects of varying size and complexity in alignment with the Site Capital Portfolio to support key business needs
- Manage all phases of capital project from conceptual design through detailed design, construction, startup, commissioning, and qualification
- Apply knowledge of capital project phases to project plan and ensure appropriate activities are completed during each project phase
- Provide direction and leadership of cross-functional project teams to meet project milestones and ensure input and alignment from all members (facilities, maintenance, validation, quality, regulatory, etc...)
- Work with and provide guidance to auxiliary project resources including Global Engineering, architectural and design engineering, and construction management as needed
- Development of project funding request packages for assigned projects
- Develop and manage project schedules, including resource planning
- Develop and maintain project budgets and cost reporting
- Proactively identify and mitigate project risks
- Provide project support and flexibility to align project needs with defined plant shutdown windows
- Initiate and execute change control requests as needed for project work
- Provide regular project updates and reporting as required
Education:
- Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Architecture
Required skills and experience
- Minimum 5 years of demonstrated experience managing small and mid-size capital projects in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or similar regulated industry
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, plant operations, maintenance, vaccine processes, and industry cGMP guidelines and practices is highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of project management best practices and tools

- Project / time management skills which consistently deliver on-time, high quality work
- Demonstrated project leadership skills with ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in facilitation and management of diverse team and functions toward a common project goal
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to interface with all levels of the organization
- Experience working with and coordination of various contract resources, including architectural engineering, construction management, and construction personnel
- Ability to read and understand technical design and engineering drawings
- Analytical and problem solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
- Project Management Certification (PMP) or formal coursework / training in project management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project or other scheduling software
- Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, ...)
- Able to understand project details, but keep overall "big picture" view of projects, priorities, and strategies
- Knowledge of design and construction best practices for safety
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Knows when and how to speak up and appropriately raise issues to team and management.
- Keeps team members, colleagues, and management fully apprised of project status and issues
