Software Engineer I

We are looking for dynamic and talented associate software engineer to join the Advisor Desktop Engineering team at Northwestern Mutual. You will be working on a high impact modernization effort building an application that delivers value to our field force. The ideal candidate is full-stack, comfortable working on front-end apps as well as their backend microservices. Engineers at NM are empowered to pick the right tools and technology stack to fit their needs. The team is using the following technologies to build software: NodeJS, React, AWS, Dynamo DB, GraphQL, Gitlab, Jira, Kubernetes and Docker.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Develops a robust understanding of digital products that you and your team support.
- Builds, enhances, and supports those digital products with the guidance of team.
- Participates in code evaluations.
- Applies engineering standard methodologies to analyze and develop software solutions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Classroom programming experience
- Demonstrate a continuous learning mindset
- Able to dissect problems and recommend solutions
- Basic technical skills
- Able to handle straight-forward tasks

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
