As our first Software Engineering Intern for the Member Experience Pod, you will have the opportunity to play a vital role in advancing our mission by enhancing the competence and accessibility of therapy through localization efforts.

Talkspace is headquartered in New York, NY, but this role can be remote and will report to the Engineering Manager.

What You'll Do

As part of our 2024 Early Careers Program, you will be part of a community that grows together!

In addition to driving localization projects, you will collaborate with our engineering team to work on code that enhances the functionality and usability of the Talkspace platform. You will have the opportunity to work on various aspects of software development, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies in a collaborative environment. 


Projects

  • Language Localization Enhancement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement language localization features within our platform. This project involves implementing language-specific content and interfaces, and ensuring seamless and inclusive user experiences across multiple languages.
  • Implement accessibility Improvements across our client facing applications. This includes gaining an understanding of best practices in accessibility and working to improve our component library to help keep future implementations compliant with accessibility standards. 


Internship Details:

  • Duration of Internship: June 3rd 2024 - August 19th 2024
  • Total of 2 projects with one of them serving as your graduation presentation
  • You will gain valuable (and paid!) professional experience, specific field related exposure and the ability to learn skills from collaborating with professionals
  • You will have a Talkspacer Mentor coming from this program - someone who helps keep track of your progress across 12 weeks


About You

  • Rising juniors and seniors in undergraduate degree programs, or enrolled in a graduate program, with a focus on computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working with data-driven technologies and tools, such as databases, APIs, and data visualization libraries.
  • Eagerness to learn and apply software engineering principles in the context of digital mental health care, with a passion for leveraging technology to improve mental wellness outcomes.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, innovative environment.


Bonus Points

  • Experience in JavaScript, particularly with the React and Node.js 
  • Familiarity with Python for data analysis and manipulation, particularly for implementing machine learning techniques using NLP (natural language processing) and LLMs (large language models).

 Compensation 

At Talkspace, we believe that pay transparency during the interview process is a critical part of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Our salary bands are based on internal and external compensation benchmarks, which we regularly evaluate to ensure we pay competitively.

The hourly compensation rate for the role will between $15-16 per hour and eligible for those enrolled in a degree program. Within the salary bands, leveling corresponds to each candidate’s relevant experience, skills as assessed during the interview process, education, and applicable certifications.
