Job Summary:

The Manager of Software Engineering will be responsible for organizing, developing, and leading a best-in-class SW Engineering team. This SW team will work cross-functionally to design, test, verify, and produce a wide range of embedded system-based medical devices. The Manager will help drive both technological and functional excellence in alignment with Minnetronix Key Technology Segment needs by providing leadership, management, and career development for personnel within the group. The Manager of SW Engineering will be part of the Development team and will share responsibility for the business performance, meeting financial objectives, and ensuring customer and employee satisfaction.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Team Leadership

o Lead and manage software engineers who work on cross-functional teams to design, develop, and support embedded systems-based medical devices by providing career development and coaching, defining individual and team goals, and maintaining performance-based goals

o Develop workforce & resource assessments for annual operating plan and forward-looking strategic plans to ensure that the SW group is structured, resourced, trained and staffed to meet needs

o Collaborates within product development to effectively staff product development teams• Strategy

o Establishes strategy and guides software engineering operations to achieve company goals while advocating on behalf of team members by securing adequate resources for success

o Evaluates and makes recommendations for tools, applications, and/or other capital investments to ensure SW team is equipped and stays current with industry best practices• Stakeholder Maintenance

o Assists Business Development by meeting with potential new customers and providing input and support on proposals as requested

o Communicates technical information to non-technical stakeholders and customers while evaluating ongoing customer needs and expectations along with technology advancements• Effective Delivery

o Ensure engineering deliverables are met with timeliness, budget adherence, and quality

o Helps to create and oversee project estimates and engages in cost management strategies

o Leads teams in the development of best-in-class processes and product design by continuously improving and ensuring those processes meet quality and safety compliance guidelines

o Strives to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs

o Ensures manufacturable, testable, and compliant designs

o Establishes technical standards in reviews, documentations, and designs

o Complies with all professional departmental as well as company best practices

o Other duties and responsibilities as needed

Qualifications and Requirements:

Qualifications and Requirements: • Bachelor of Science in Software, Electrical, Computer Engineering or related field required

o Master of Science, Engineering, or related field preferred• Minimum 10 years engineering experience with at least 5 years of engineering leadership experience in medical device development required

o Previous software engineering management experience preferred• Demonstrated leadership behaviors including effective communication, critical thinking and decision making, coaching, and mentoring, and promoting a sense of urgency for reaching goals • Experience with IEC 62304 for software development required• Experience in Scrum / Agile environment required• Experience with all phases of new product development, from concept through commercialization preferred • Experience with cybersecurity preferred

Working Conditions and Requirements:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
