Role Summary
Magna New Mobility is a startup inside Magna International, a mobility technology company and one of the largest automotive suppliers in the world. The New Mobility team is building a suite of products and services all about moving things and people at scale, closely integrated with software to achieve our unique and ambitious hardware visions. So far we have developed and partnered on products in the micromobility market (Yulu, Yuma, Cartken, among others) and have other projects and target markets that are still in stealth mode.
As the Senior Battery Systems Engineer, You will be responsible for reviewing customer requirements and derive high level electrical, mechanical, thermal and performance requirements for battery packs for the Advanced Product Development group. You will identify continuous improvement opportunities and keep an eye on future trends in Battery and its electronics developments and how those can be implemented into New Mobility's future product roadmap. This position will be hybrid in our Troy, Michigan office. #LI-hybrid
Key Responsibilities

  • Define and maintain pack level requirements for battery controls, internal mechanical, electrical components, battery cells, and thermal performance.
  • Support battery plant end-of-line development and conduct testing as necessary to confirm system performance
  • Facilitate the execution of battery FMEAs and owner of the Systems FMEA
  • Owns and facilitates creation of System Architecture Diagram along with all APQP documentations.
  • Define battery Test plans to validate all System and application requirements and functional performance.
  • Lead design trade-offs between thermal, packaging, NVH, and hardware/software solutions
  • Conduct safety checkout and perform Systems testing at every hardware and software release as necessary


Key Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree or Equivalent Experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of high voltage or low voltage Battery design and release, Systems engineering, Product testing, Product launch and Battery assembly experiences
