Nuveen has a career opportunity for a Senior Business Data Analyst & Architect (Finance Data). This role will have responsibility for improving and expanding the Nuveen Finance data environment. The candidate will support Finance teams especially FP&A team to improve overall process in reporting, data analysis and reducing manual efforts.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Build-out AUM reporting, Revenue, P&L, and expense based reporting solutions, working with an ERP such as Peoplesoft, SAP etc. and building financial and sales reporting for asset management.
  • Be a subject matter expert in maintaining and expanding the Finance data environments while empowering both the Finance team, as well as other functional leads to provide insight, metrics, and financial reporting to leadership.
  • Partner with members of the FP&A team, technology owners, business owners, and external vendors to design best business processes and identify solutions that enable efficient, accurate, and sustainable planning, reporting, and compliance activities.
  • Partner with Finance stakeholders to build automated data driven insights to drive finance and business outcomes.
  • Ensure the gathering of proper data sets that meet the requirements of FP&A team.
  • Analyze the data integrity across financial systems and establish data governance to ensure the finance systems are accurate for actuals, data hierarchies, cost centers, product codes, general ledger accounts, etc.
  • Collaborate with finance stakeholders to create and document business requirements to implement best business solutions for the finance team.
  • Lead, drive, and refine systems where needed to support existing and new reporting requirements and analytical requirements.
  • Advise, develop, and implement new solutions, to include the transformation and automation of current systems and solutions.
  • Provide support to the FP&A team and provide the necessary support to help the team understand and use the financial tools and data effectively.
  • Ensure cross-functional data integrity is maintained and incorporated within the various subledgers to achieve designed reporting and analytical granularity for business intelligence, financial analysis, and predictive analytics.
  • Assist with and manage the implementation of new systems, tools, and processes that facilitate the dissemination of financial information across the business.
  • Support FP&A by designing new data sets using existing data, or new data from our other upstream repositories.
  • Utilize tools to provide efficient preparation of data, including SQL, Power BI/Excel, Tableau, and Alteryx
  • Design, build, and test automated financial reports and models using a variety of reporting tools.
  • Provide the Finance team with analysis and ad-hoc reporting projects.
  • Manage and coach a team of junior analysts.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in a Finance system, data, reporting role preferably from Asset Management, Investment Manage firms, or Asset Management business within large banks.
  • 2+ years of people management experience

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Management Information System, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of direct experience with financial planning/reporting tools
  • 5+ years directly managing a team with experience managing and administering an FP&A data environment (including SQL)
  • Experience in asset management building-out AUM reporting, Revenue, P&L, and expense based reporting solutions, working with an ERP such as Peoplesoft, SAP etc. and building financial and sales reporting for asset management.
  • Possess working knowledge of AUM reporting component.
  • Experience designing conceptual, logical, and physical data models utilizing SQL.
  • Experience with data transformation and dashboard reporting tools such as: Power BI, Tableau, and Qlik Sense
  • Experience with low code data analytics tool such as Alteryx.
  • Experience in developing and disseminating detailed reports to C Suite executives.
  • Experience working with C Suite executives.
  • Experience implementing an FP&A system.
  • Knowledge of finance, financial methods, tools, reporting, and strategies.
  • Knowledge of preparing financial statements and reports.
  • Proficient experience with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) with advanced skill level in Excel and Power Query Excel functions.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong analytical, quantitative, and investigative skills to develop an understanding of business concerns and challenges.

Base Pay Range: $118,800/yr. - $220,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
