We are seeking a seasoned Middleware Engineering Lead with deep expertise in WebSphere Application Server, JBoss, and Tomcat to lead the development and maintenance of our critical middleware infrastructure. You will be a strategic visionary and hands-on leader, orchestrating a high-performing team of engineers to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure middleware solutions that support the core functions of our business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and inspire: Guide the middleware engineering team, setting goals, delegating tasks, mentoring and coaching junior engineers, fostering collaboration, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Architect and implement: Design, develop, and deploy robust middleware solutions spanning WebSphere, JBoss, Tomcat, Apache, NGINX and other relevant technologies, aligning with our technical roadmap and business objectives.
  • Performance and security: Ensure optimal performance and scalability of the middleware platform, proactively monitoring for issues, troubleshooting, and implementing performance tuning strategies. Prioritize robust security measures to protect sensitive data and applications.
  • DevOps champion: Integrate DevOps practices into the team workflow, automating deployments, infrastructure management, and CI/CD pipelines for greater efficiency and agility.
  • Technology evangelist: Stay ahead of the curve in middleware technologies, evaluating and recommending new tools and platforms to optimize our infrastructure.
  • Collaboration maestro: Foster strong relationships with other engineering teams, ensuring seamless integration of middleware services with applications and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge keeper: Document middleware architecture, best practices, and operational procedures for knowledge transfer and long-term maintainability.
  • Involve in design and capacity review meetings to provide suggestion in Kubernetes Platform usage.
  • Solid knowledge of monitoring tools and ability to fine tuning alerts on Datadog ,Splunk, APM.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in middleware administration.
  • In-depth proficiency in WebSphere Application Server, JBoss (WildFly, EAP), and Tomcat, including configuration, administration, performance tuning, and security.
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing scalable and secure middleware solutions.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps principles and automation tools (Jenkins, Ansible, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
  • Passion for mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working with caching platforms such as Redis, Gemfire or ElasticSearch is added plus.
