About the Role

We are hiring a Senior or Staff System Designer for our Base Design Systems Team! We build the technologies that enable Uber and our partners to understand, plan, implement and build the business at scale. Think of Base as everything that defines the core of a page, both from a visual and user-interaction perspective, and the foundations of Uber's user interface. It brings all our Uber experiences together, under a single, unified framework.

As a Product Designer on the Design Systems team, you will work closely with other product designers to create, manage, and iterate on design frameworks and systems.

The team is focused on complex design challenges that involve systems design at scale across the Uber ecosystem of products/services. You'll be working closely with a variety of teams, subject areas, and lines of business to become an advocate for systems thinking and Design to Engineering efficiencies.

This role demands high-quality attention to detail and craft as everything you touch will go out to the world serving millions of people and amongst dozens of Uber's product and service offerings.

What You'll Do

- Develop frameworks for how to build inclusive, coherent experiences across a range of features for the Uber suite of products.

- Foster design cohesion across multiple product teams.

- Influence changes and improvements to the Base design system, clearly articulate the rationale through user and product insights, reuse or extension of existing patterns or frameworks where possible, as well as finding opportunities to align closely across product groups.

- Partner with designers, engineers, and researchers to create a world-class design system.

- Solve complex design problems in simple and intuitive ways, that blend brand personality, visual, motion and sound to create delightful experiences.

Basic Qualifications

8+ years of Product Design experience

Preferred Qualifications

- Advanced skills in Figma, including Tokens, Variables, and Prototyping.

- Exceptional UI design skills and attention to detail.

- Experience in leading unified experience strategies across products.

- Skilled in creating documentation and supporting UX coherence.

- Proven track record of partnering with engineering to deliver cross-platform UI libraries.

- Ability to make product decisions based on qualitative and quantitative insights.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$225,000 per year - USD$250,000 per year.
