Zayo is seeking a Vice President of Product - Software Engineering to be responsible for overseeing and managing the Product Software Engineering department for the organization. This senior leadership role involves leading a team of front-end, back-end product software engineers, and User Interface / Experience analysts to develop a world class customer experience for Zayo's network and managed services.TheVice President of Product - Software Engineering collaborates with and leads internal cross-functional teams to ensure the strategic roadmap, design, and implementation of product software tools are in alignment with the business' strategic imperatives and meets customers' expectations.
Responsibilities:
- The overall digital product experiences, focusing on the customer facing portals and APIs
- Lead the teams responsible for building and operating customer facing digital product experiences and software enabled product capabilities including architecture, software engineering, and quality assurance
- Operate: Operate carrier grade Product Software solutions
- Build and Integrate: Build and integrate best of breed software capabilities to enable the Product Software
- Architect: Partner with Product, IT and Network teams to define the Product Software systems vision and architecture
- Lead the Product Development Process: Translate product vision and requirements into software capabilities within Agile software development framework driving improved velocity while maintaining quality, scalability and security. Lead the Technical Product Manager team
- Define and lead product security including security policies, security standards of the code base, security and retention of data, and the security of communications with other systems
- Own and administer the tools and process of the feature development process from feature intake through completion
- Recruit, mentor, strengthen, and lead teams of different size, skill sets and skill levels of software engineers from open source embracing to dev light
- Continuously deliver features on a complex software stack that interfaces with physical infrastructure
- Approach everything with a problem solving mindset and customer first attitude
- Provide logical decision making frameworks to support approach to challenges and conclusions
- Product catalog administration
Qualifications:
- The candidates who will excel in this role probably have a CS degree, a solid background in some combination of software engineering, network engineering, systems architecture or product development and naturally gravitate towards automating any process they come across
- Minimum of 10 (ten) years of cumulative engineering experience in software engineering, systems engineering, systems architecture, network engineering, and network architecture
- Minimum of 10 (ten) years of experience in product development or an equivalent that involves process automation and optimization
- Organized, persuasive and analytical, must be able to eliminate obstacles through creative and adaptive approaches
- Comfortable in a dynamic technical organization developing solutions tailored to customers' needs
- Strong presentation skills and be comfortable presenting to all levels within an organization, including C-level leadership. Must be able to communicate effectively in written responses to emails, RFPs, and when submitting reports
- Strong understanding of network services (IP VPN, Waves, Ethernet), having worked directly with many in the real world
- Working technical knowledge of different cloud providers (AWS, Google, Azure, etc)
- Hands on work with a variety of CRM and service delivery tools and their related APIs such as Salesforce, ManageEngine, ServiceNow, and others
- Experience with product requirements gathering, design, and implementation
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Experience leading cross functional engineering teams, and collaborates well in a team environment across many different environments
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team, lead multiple teams directly and influence an even broader scope of teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in or for network service providers
Base Salary Range: $240,000 - $280,000 commensurate with experience
