Position: Vice President, Reinsurance Accounting Strategy and Solutions
Location(s): Tampa, FL
Setting: Hybrid
Reports to: Senior Vice President - US Controller
The Team You Will Join
This new leadership role will be part of the Controls, Analysis and Reporting team within MetLife's Financial Management Group.
The Opportunity
Global Accounting and Finance lead with respect to:

    • all strategic initiatives involving reinsurance, including captives and offshore reinsurers
    • all new and existing product initiatives in the U.S. involving reinsurance
    • all insurance related de-risking activities in MetLife Holdings (reinsurance or non-reinsurance)


How You'll Help Us Build a Confident Future:

  • Partnering with CFO, Actuarial, Controllers, Treasury, the Business, and M&A (where applicable) in providing real-time feedback on accounting and financial reporting implications of various structures and alternative solutions as they are developed and finalized
  • Overseeing the identification, resolution, and documentation of all reinsurance technical accounting issues (STAT and GAAP)
  • Overseeing the establishment of accounting/reporting playbooks (inception and ongoing)
  • Identifying and assisting in establishing additional internal controls over significant new reinsurance transactions (inception and ongoing)
  • Coordinating with Actuarial, CFO, and FP&A to ensure impacts to near term STAT and GAAP projections and longer term business plans are accurate and complete for senior management/potential Board presentations
  • Taking a leading role in educating senior management on initial an ongoing impacts to Stat capital, STAT and GAAP segment earnings, EPS, etc.
  • Coordinating with STAT, Communications, M&A, Legal and SEC reporting teams to ensure appropriate consideration given to additional public disclosures (including Press releases, 8-K's, QFS, Investor Day, 10K's and 10Qs)


What You Need to Succeed (Required Qualifications):

  • Strong financial background and record of success in partnering with business leaders to drive growth.
  • 15+ years of experience in Accounting and/or Financial Reporting - with a focus on Insurance and Reinsurance
  • Strong analytical skills and business judgment.
  • Accomplished change management leader, able to operate effectively in a highly matrix environment.
  • Undergraduate degree required

  • MBA and/or CPA preferred
