The Scion Group is paving a path in student living, and we are seeking a Director of Talent Management to join us in executing our vision. We are seeking a passionate talent management professional to help us build a best-in-class employee experience and culture that will fuel Scion’s growth. As the Director of Talent Management, you will be at the forefront of shaping the possibilities for our talent. You will oversee and implement strategies for talent management and development, ensuring employees continually grow, thrive, and participate in our innovative and inclusive culture.

This position is required to work onsite at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters with flexibility to work one day remote per week. This position reports to the SVP of Human Resources and is presently an individual contributor role with intention to have at least one direct report soon after starting.

Your Responsibilities

  • Partner with the broader HR team and leadership to develop and implement a comprehensive talent strategy for the full employee lifecycle.
  • Provide innovative recommendations related to the development and implementation of talent initiatives through collection and analysis of people data and a solid understanding of relevant HR trends and best practices. Measure effectiveness of initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure principles of diversity, equality and inclusion or prioritized and woven into the talent strategies, programs, and initiatives where all employees can bring their true authentic self to work.
  • Develop competency framework for roles, ensuring skills and qualifications are clearly defined for effective performance management and career development.
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Development team in the creation of learning paths and visible career paths.
  • Plan, implement, and manage the company’s annual talent review process, resulting in the creation of an internal bench of top talent. Own the maintenance and functionality of the company’s performance management tools (currently Lattice and Excel), ensure job descriptions are current and standards of performance are defined.
  • Partner with other HR professionals to effectively link performance & rewards processes to reinforce a culture of performance and development.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives including our annual employee experience survey, analysis and action planning. Own the maintenance and functionality of the company’s surveying tools (currently Qualtrics EX).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in talent management, HR leadership, or related roles.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management, Organization Development, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience creating value through talent and leadership development initiatives.
  • Ability to effectively interact and consult with colleagues at all levels in the organization.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and assess developing patterns and proactively respond with solutions.
  • Basic understanding of statistics and strong technical analytical skills. Strong proficiency in Excel is preferred.
  • Technologically inclined; able to quickly become proficient in various technology and data collection systems to increase efficiency and drive results.
  • Prior experience as a people manager.
  • Certification in HR (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR, SPHR) is a plus.
