Linux Administrator

This position requires an active USAccess clearance.

This is a Full Time Temporary position.

The Linux Administrator will be responsible for configuring, deploying, and maintaining RedHat Linux Servers at SPCMSC, along with documenting RedHat Linux setups into Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at SPCMSC.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Estimated Starting Salary Range for Linux Administrator: $52,000/year.
• Pay commensurate with experience.
• Full time benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, and other possible benefits as provided.

Linux Administrator Responsibilities Include:

• Configuring, deploying, and maintaining RedHat Linux Servers at SPCMSC, ensuring adherence to technical and security standards

• Collaborating with scientific and technical staff to install and configure RedHat Linux servers used to process and host scientific data

• Installing hardware and software applications on RedHat Linux based servers, ensuring compatibility and functionality with scientific data processing requirements

• Upgrading and troubleshooting equipment as needed to maintain optimal server performance

• Documenting all installations, configurations, upgrades, and troubleshooting procedures into comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at SPCMSC

• Creating thorough SOPs that provide step-by-step instructions for future reference and training purposes

• Reporting progress on a weekly basis to ensure timely completion of tasks and milestones

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Linux Administrator Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

• Working knowledge of current RedHat Linux: RHEL 9 including installation, configuration, tuning, and documentation

• Working knowledge of setting up databases on RHEL 9

• Ability to document RedHat Server install and application setup into working Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

• Past applicable job experience may include, but is not limited to: Linux System Administrator, RedHat Linux Administrator, IT Specialist

• Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
