Joining Collibra’s Data Office Team

Collibra is looking for a Senior Data Engineer in our own Data Office to evolve our internal self-serve data platform and to optimize data flow and collection for cross functional data products. This role will be an integral part in helping Collibra’s rapid growth and our thought leading position in data intelligence. 

This is a hands-on, roll up your sleeves position and requires a passion for data and engineering. You communicate as well with technology as with business stakeholders. You are unable to shed a continued enthusiasm for new (data) technology. You pride yourself in providing a self-service, production-ready data platform that, following best practices, keeps the lights on for the business’ data products.

As you fuel Collibra’s data lake, you will leverage your experience to lead our internal data self-serve infrastructure into state of the art data lake and help data teams across Collibra drive change through data. 

Senior Data Engineers at Collibra are responsible for:

  • Continuously evolve our self-service data infrastructure for our business’ data products
  • Manage, provide support and use extraction and transformation tools to enable data product owners to drive business value
  • Manage and build cloud infrastructure technology to deliver value for the business and elevate data security
  • Collaborate and support stakeholders (in Finance, Marketing, Product, Sales, …) to identify and plan new requirements for our data platform and data products

You have:

  • 5+ years experience performing data engineering operations to fulfill business needs with a strong focus on data modeling
  • Strong experience in building cloud-based data infrastructures in AWS. In depth knowledge of warehousing (Redshift) and storage technologies and IaC tools. Experience with GCP is a plus
  • Experience with orchestration tools (Apache Airflow), scheduling of ETLs and strong programming skills in Python and SQL (with DBT). Experience with Pyspark for large scale data processing
  • Familiarity with the Data Science process and ML learning models
  • Experience with security best practices and cloud cost management
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience is required

You are:

  • Deeply technical, passionate, and analytical about what the insights data can deliver
  • Process oriented and driven, knowing you can’t accelerate at scale without continuously improving processes
  • Familiar with supporting different types of stakeholders and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
  • A strong communicator in English, both written and oral. You’ve applied those skills for technical and business audiences in the form of documentation and requirements
  • Experienced at identifying, prioritizing, and getting buy-in for data opportunities within a large organization

Measures of success are:

  • Within your first month, you will familiarize yourself with the team, the data platform and the stakeholders of the Data Office. Within that time you are expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the challenges ahead. 
  • Within your third month,you will be able to autonomously tackle at least one of the main challenges in tight coordination with the stakeholders.  
  • Within your sixth month, you will be able to effectively collaborate on the evolution of the data infrastructure with concrete and constructive decisions
